Jobs For Teen

Looking for summer jobs for teenagers? Not sure where to find part-time employment that is suited to your teen's desire to enjoy summer while making money for college? Check out these ideas for summer jobs that will keep your teen in the friendship circuit while giving her valuable work experience.

Catch Some Rays As A Neighborhood Pool Life Guard
If your teen loves the sun and surf, enroll her in swimming lessons and lifeguard training, and then let her play around the pool all summer long as a lifeguard. This works best if your neighborhood has a community pool and your teen can just walk or bike to and from work each day.

Learn From Mom Or Dad As An Intern At Your Place Of Employment
Check with your workplace to see if your teenager can work part time at your office as an intern, assistant or even as a janitor. You'll be surprised how many places of employment will make room on the payroll for a part-time summer employee if the teenager comes with a referral from an employee.

Serve Up Corn dogs At A Local Amusement Park
Most teens love amusement parks, and most amusement parks like to hire older teens. If you are lucky enough to have an amusement park nearby, check into the age hiring limits and see if your teen can't get some real-world work experience.

Nothing says summer like an ice cream cone, and most ice cream shops are looking for inexpensive, seasonal workers.

Play With Younger Kids At A Summer Camp
If your teen is especially responsible and good with kids, see if she wants to work at a local summer camp as a group leader. Sports camps, science camps, YMCA camps and church camps will all be looking for older teens to fill their leadership slots.

If you work from home and don't mind a few extra kids hanging around, let your teen open her own summer camp, right in your house. Limit the number of kids, help her figure out what kind of theme camp is possible and watch your teen grow and learn, all the while earning money for college. Ideas for themed camps could be music video camp, movie camp, dance club camp, art camp or cooking camp.
